Chef Creates Britain's 'biggest burger' - 25lb

A chef has created Britain's biggest burger - a whopping 25lb monster containing 25,000 calories.
The massive snack nestles between two 20in buns crammed with 4lb of cheese, 20 sliced tomatoes and 1lb of salad leaves.

It takes more than two hours to cook and is made with enough beef to make 100 quarter-pound burgers.

The burger contains 25,000 calories - a man's daily allowance for ten days and a woman's for 12.

Chef Justin Meaney and staff at JD's Grill in Plymouth, Devon, did a trial run a couple of weeks ago to make sure the mammoth meal was feasible.

It was too big for a conventional frying pan so chefs had to heat it in an oven before carefully carrying it out on a set of scales.

The mega-burger was created by chefs at the American-themed restaurant to smash the previous British record of 24lbs.

Cafe owner Dave Cossar plans to chop it into sections to share it with customers rather than sell it as a whole burger.

The heaviest burger ever made weighed in at more than a ton at a casino in Minnesota, USA, last year.
