Doctors at the Delta State University Teaching Hospital, Oghara, were battling to save the life of the embattled commissioner as at the time of filing this report yesterday.
Investigation revealed that the commissioner was initially rushed to a private hospital before the government moved him to the teaching hospital for intensive care.
Muoboghare was attacked on Saturday by his kinsmen at Uwheru in Ughelli North Local Government Area of the state.
He incurred the wrath of the thugs when he, in collaboration with the leadership of the People Democratic Pary, PDP, attempted to alter the list of the local government ward executives of the party held on March 3, 2013.
It was gathered that the list of the ward executives of the party at Delta Central Senatorial District was being altered ahead of the primaries to pick the flagbearer of the party for the planned by-election following the death of Senator Pius Ewherido in June.
It was, however, gathered that protests over the undemocratic action of the commissioner snowballed into a free for all. Some chieftains of the party scampered for safety.
Reliable sources told National Mirror that Muoboghare was stabbed many times by the thugs.
The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ikechukwu Adaba, who confirmed the report, blamed it on the leadership of the party, which he said failed to involve the police in the stagemanaged congress.
Adaba, who assured that Muoboghare’s condition was not lifethreatening, said two persons had been arrested in connection with the incident.
