Plateau Under Attack Houses Burnt n 19 Confirm Dead

Village in Mangu local government Area of Plateau state was under attack nineteen people were confirmed dead and others sustained severe injuries.
The attack occurred on Thursday, September 16 2015 when gunmen stormed the community shooting sporadically, looting and burning several houses.

Capt. Ikedichi Iweha the spokesman of Operation Safe Haven however denied that anyone died in the attack even though resident insisted that the gunmen came in groups and killed people while also setting houses on fire. 

“It is true there was an attack on Kadunung village, houses were burnt, residents are displaced but the situation has been brought under control.”

Iweha said the information was relayed to them late but they had taken over the area to search for the gunmen. 

Lots of villagers have reportedly fled for safety to other areas while those who were left were living in perpetual fear. 

Governor Simon Lalong through a statement signed by his director of press and public affairs, Emmanuel Nanle said efforts were ongoing put an end to the violent attacks in the state.

“It is regrettable that as efforts are being made by government to see to the end of violent conflict in Barkin Ladi, Riyom and parts of Jos South Local Government Areas, the state is faced with another communal crisis.”
The governor urged the citizens to remain calm as the government was commuted to sustaining peace. He also thanked Jos University Teaching Hospital for their response in handling emergency situations.
