EFCC on
Thursday evening raided the Abuja home of Danjuma Goje, a former governor of
Gombe state.
The operation,
which began after 5:00 pm was still ongoing as at 7:01pm Reports have it that
at least 12 vehicles, including about eight police vans were stationed outside
the building and at least 25 mobile police officers were sighted outside the
building, located on Haile Selassie Street, Asoroko.
About half a
dozen EFCC detectives were also seen standing outside, with even more likely to
be inside. Wilson Uwujaren, EFCC spokesperson was not available for comments.
Other anti-graft officials said they won’t comment on an ongoing operation. Mr.
Goje, a serving senator, is currently being prosecuted for alleged corruption
while he was Gombe state governor.
Meanwhile,
following the suspension of SGF, Babachir Lawal by President Muhamadu Buhari on
Wednesday April 19, the most senior Permanent Secretary in the Office of the
secretary to the government of the federation (OSGF) Dr. Habibat Lawan, has
taken over as the acting secretary to the government of the Federation (SGF).
Babachir was alleged of corruption in contract awards at the Presidential
Initiative on the North East (PINE).
“Permanent
secretary to SGF’s office Dr Habibat Lawan is the new Acting SGF and Amb. Arab
Yadam the new Acting DG National Intelligence Agency NIA,” a source confirmed.
