Habibu Abubakar, a
200-level student of the Department Modern European Languages and Linguistics,
Usmanu Danfodio University, Sokoto arms was amputated by suspected political
thugs in Sokoto.
The
suspected thugs ambushed the student in the early hours of Sunday at Mana area
of the metropolis, dispossessed him of his motorcycle and amputated his two
hands.
Abubakar Attahiru, the
distraught father of the victim, confirmed the incident to Daily Nigerian,
saying the assailants are yet to be identified.
“The assailants ambushed
him around Mana area around 2am on Sunday, snatched his motorcycle, cut off his
hands and left him there lying in the pool of his blood.
“Habibu’s uncle was alerted
immediately and he was rushed to Orthopaedic Hospital in Wammako for
treatment,” said the father.
Spokesman for Sokoto Police
Command, Mohammed Abubakar, could not be reached for comment as at the time of
filing this report.
