Ekiti State Deputy Governor Is Dead

The Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, Mrs Funmilayo Olayinka is dead. Mrs Olayinka who had been off public gathering for some months had battled a cancer related ailment. She was aged 52. (May her soul rest in peace).
She was sworn in as Deputy Governor on October 16, 2010 after the victory of Dr Kayode Fayemi at the polls was upheld by the court.
Mrs Olayinka who came into government from the banking sector is survived by aged parents and siblings, a husband and three children.
The Deputy Governor’s demise was first confirmed by family sources which was later followed by an official confirmation by the State Government. It was disclosed in a statement signed by the Ekiti State Commissioner for Information, Tayo Ekundayo that Her Excellency Mrs Olayinka passed on on Saturday evening “after a tough but courageous battle with cancer”.
Some weeks ago, the Ekiti State Government announced that the Deputy Governor was ill and was away to get medical attention.
