Jonathan, Buhari, others grace Tinubu mother's Fidau

According to Punch, President Goodluck Jonathan, represented by Minister of Trade and Investment, Olusegun Aganga, and former Head of State, Maj.-Gen. Muhammed Buhari (retd.), were among eminent Nigerians that graced the third day Fidau prayer for Alhaja Abibat Mogaji. Missed the burial ceremony read it here 
Others were Nasarawa State Governor, Tanko Almakura, National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki and Convener of the Save Nigeria Group, Pastor Tunde Bakare.

Mogaji, President-General of Association of Market Men and Women in Nigeria and mother of former Governor of Lagos State, Bola Tinubu, died on Saturday at the age of 96.

Also present were former Governor of the state, Brig.-Gen. Buba Marwa (retd); former governor of Ogun State, Olusegun Osoba; Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire; former Deputy Governor of the state, Femi Pedro; wife of Lagos State Governor, Mrs. Abimbola Fashola; her Oyo and Osun states counterparts, Mrs. Florence Ajimobi; Mrs Sherifat Aregbesola; Senator Ganiyu Solomon; Senator Gbenga Ashafa; Justice Usman Muhammed, AbdulRasak Okoya, and Alhaji Lai Muhammed, among others.

Major markets in the state were shut to honour Mogaji, while leaders of the markets also graced the Fidau.


The prayer was characterised with Qur'an recitation, Hutbah and lectures delivered by the Chief National Missioner Ansar-Ud-Deen, Sheik Abdulrahman Ahmad and Imam Munir Morcas who was represented by Alfa Suleiman Asariyu.

In his lecture, Ahmad urged Nigerians to live a good life and behave well, adding that on a daily basis, people should look back at what they have done in life and prepare for the inevitable end.

He said, "Death is compulsory for all human beings. Whatever we do, we should strive to do it well. We should always have it at the back of our mind that whatever we do on earth, we'll face judgment of God."

The security at the venue of the Fidau, Tafawa Balewa Square was tight, as security personnel as well as traffic managers were on streets around the area to monitor thousands of people that thronged the place.

Street urchins, popularly called area boys, also besieged the venue in large numbers. They solicited money from dignitaries who graced the prayers.

Many of the visitors wore white lace and pink head. Tinubu also wore a pink cap and a flowing agbada with dark shades.
