The 'New Slaves' rapper and his reality TV star partner welcomed their first daughter together at the Cedars Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles, California on June 15. West then proposed to the socialite at the end of last week and she accepted. They plan to tie the knot in Paris in September, reports The Sun.

West has yet to seal the deal with an engagement ring, but he gifted his partner with a "push present" – a $500,000 diamond ring – to mark the arrival of their daughter North. "He has spent half a million on a ring as a push present and had it designed months ago in preparation," a source told the newspaper. "He's even more in love with her now than ever and they can’t wait to get married."

Meanwhile, a Manchester City Councillor has suggested that Kanye West and Kim Kardashian named their daughter after the UK region and the council's "recent call for an International Manchester Day".

Councillor Pat Karney told The Independent: "North West is a tremendous name, with a strong, upward direction – just like our own region and of course, Manchester. Perhaps the name was sparked by our recent call for an International Manchester Day." Karney also invited the family to visit the city as "Kanye would be inspired by our history of breaking new musical genres," and Kardashian would enjoy the shopping.

Kanye's latest album 'Yeezus' was officially released last Tuesday (June 18) following last week's leak, and is currently jostling for top spot in the album charts with Kodaline's debut album.

The rapper's sixth studio album features production work from Daft Punk whilst the song 'New Slaves' features Frank Ocean, 'Hold My Liquor' features Chief Keef and Bon Iver's Justin Vernon, the latter of whom co-wrote 'I'm In It'. Kid Cudi guests on 'Guilt Trip' and the John Legend-penned 'Bound 2' features former Gap Band vocalist Charlie Wilson and 'Send It Up' sees a guest spot from Chicago rapper King L.
