The shooting of a police officer, yesterday, at the Murtala Mohammed Airport in Lagos caused pandemonium at the airport.
The policeman, identified simply as Abayo attached to the Hajj Camp Police Station was said to have been shot by two unknown men while walking within the airport premises.
The men after shooting the police officer sped off on a power bike.
Dr Alex Okoh of the Airport Health Authority, who confirmed the incident, was also a witness saying: "I was in an ambulance when I saw people running “helter-skelter. When I got down from the vehicle, I saw a man lying saw pool of blood.
“I immediately ordered the driver of the ambulance to take the policeman to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, for treatment.
The medical personnel and the Hajj Camp Police Post had no idea of what caused the shooting of the Police officer.
The DPO and DCO were unavailable for comments and the officers on duty claimed they had no authority to brief the press about the issue.
The police public relations officer at the airport, Dennis Ifijeh, when contacted said that “the matter will be investigated once a complaint is lodged.”
