According to PM news, a 65-year old man identified as Ibraheem Yusuf who tried to make peace between two men at abattoir area of Iju-Ishaga, Lagos State, has been killed with a stone.
According to report, the late Yusuf, who hailed from Dutse Local Government area of Jigawa State, was mediating between a Ghanaian identified as Wisdom and a security guard who were quarrelling over a recharge card on Thursday.
According to an eye witness who pleaded that her identity should not be disclosed, “Wisdom was fighting the security man and I sent my son to go and separate them before other people joined in the separation. Wisdom went back to his place only to come back and continue to fight before Yusuf came out and cautioned Wisdom.
“And Wisdom insulted Yusuf which made him to go inside his house and brought out dagger and told Wisdom that he would kill him for insulting him. He was actually joking with Wisdom because he used his left hand to show him the dagger while he used the right hand to pet his jaw. But the next thing that happened was that Wisdom picked up a stone and hit him on his chest and took to his heels.
“While Yusuf was chasing Wisdom, the old man collapsed and he was rushed to Ayodele Medical Centre in the area where he died.”
A leader of the Hausa community at abattoir who identified himself as Mallam Muhammed said if not for the way the elders of the Hausa community in the area handled the incident, and the police who promptly responded to a distress call, the situation would have gone out of hand as there was an outrage in the wake of the incident.
Efforts to speak with the Lagos State Police Command image maker DSP Ngozi Braide proved abortive as her phone line was switched off.
