Controversy Over The Appointment Of New Director General Of NDLEA

Right from when Nigeria began to exist, the leadership, whether democratically elected or through the barrels of the gun has always surrounded itself with its own kith and kin and same
fundamental life beliefs which can be trusted from the discretion of the leader but expecting a high level of competence and a combination of political good hands from our shoeless president seems like a taboo.

The profound fathomless appointment of the wife of a former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party by the president as the new Director General for the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) via the president's spokesperson, Reuben Abati, who confirmed it was with immediate effect, came as a surprise to Nigerians.

It is quite simple; there have been various political synergy in the past few weeks but this one is being trailed with many unanswered questions that keep staring in the faces of Nigerians.

Questions that show what is in the offing, questions that suggest an invisible plot.

Questions like: Why was the former NDLEA Director General, Mr Olufemi Ajayi, moved to being the executive secretary of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF)? Why is there a need to even appoint a new DG at all? Why should it be Roli-Bode George? What qualifications does she have to be the NDLEA boss? Does she know anything about Narcotism?

Knowing that Nigerians are people with the "complain-now-but-manage-it-later" syndrome, many of these questions will soon be swept under the bridge like nothing was ever wrong with the appointment, hence, our being taken for granted all the time.

However, the NDLEA is a very sensitive agency of the government which needs hands with proven integrity and complete conservativeness not a socialite and a fashionista.

You ever wondered why all the resourceful and efficient national media houses and even google do not have too much to say about the new Director General? It is because the only "reasonable" qualification that got her the appointment is the fact that she is the wife of a man who is a devoted supporter of our President, a man who strongly opposes regionalism and true federation at the national conference, a former looter of the Ondo State Treasury, an ex-convict!

Adding the Mohammed Abacha's case who has been pardoned indirectly, Kashamu Buruji being made free and also being made an unofficial presidential aide, Alamieyeseigha pardoned and many more are indications that the presidency is ready to sleep with the devil to retain power in 2015, unbelievably, it has no clue as to how to efficiently and judiciously use such power.

Dear President, permutations are allowed in political synergy and terrains; In fact it is the the grease that helps oil the major "onward-going" decisions that a leader makes...but it is disheartening and totally shameful that these your own permutations are injurious to the healthiness of the country and also aiding cankerworms that should be dealt with and forgotten in the political sphere of our country!

When will the chain of corruption and favouritism ever end? When are we going to stop recycling worms that eat deep into the goodness of the land without caution in the system?

When will the country seemingly stop being a "turn-by-turn-Nigeria Limited" venture?
