Mr. Ifeanyi was caught at the departure hall of the airport during the screening of passengers on a Turkish Airline flight.
Confirming the arrest, NDLEA commander at the Lagos Airport, Mr. Hamza Umar, revealed that the suspect hid the drug and packed them in two parcels inside a laptop bag.
According to the commander, if the suspect had not been caught at theLagos airport, he would have proceeded to South Sudan upon arrival at Turkey.
He said: “The suspect was found with two parcels of cocaine industrially hidden by the sides of his laptop bag. He was detected on his way to Turkey from where he would have proceeded to South Sudan. The drug tested positive for cocaine and weighed 1.370kg.”
However, the chairman of NDLEA, Ahmadu Giade has assured citizens that the agency would continue to fight against drug trafficking and ensure that culprits are brought to book thus making the country drug-free.
