Britain’s First ‘Poo Bus’ Powered By Human Waste Now In Service

The 40-seat “Bio-Bus” runs on biomethane gas, generated through the treatment of sewage and food waste. It can travel up to 186 miles on one tank of gas, which takes the annual waste of around five people to produce.
Britain’s first ‘poo bus’ take to the road on Thursday, powered entirely by human and food waste. The bus is run by Bath Bus Company and will transport passengers between Bath and Bristol Airport.
The first bus to be powered by human waste has gone into service in Great Britain.
The neo-vehicle has 40 seats and a range of up to 300 kilometers on one tank of gas. It is equal to approximately five people’s waste over a year.
Bio-Bus runs entirely on gas obtained from human and food waste that is said to be a way more cleaner than diesel. British engineers believe that besides providing a sustainable way of fuelling public transport it will improve air quality in cities.
What is even more interesting is that the Bio-Bus is actually powered by people living in the local area, including quite possibly those on the bus itself.
The gas, biomethane, produces fewer emissions than traditional diesel engines and is both renewable and sustainable. Moreover, it also reduces reliance on traditional fossil fuels.
