‘Jonathan had committed impeachable offences impeachment proceedings must start now’ - Jajere

Senator Jajere who is said to be among the arrow-heads of the impeachment alleged that President Jonathan had committed many impeachable offences as he had allegedly breached the constitution of the country severally.
Senator Jajere who represents Yobe South Senatorial District has said that there was no auspicious time to commence the impeachment proceedings of President Goodluck Jonathan than now before the insurgents would wipe out his constituents from the surface earth.

Already, a source among the Senators championing the Jonathan-must-go crusade yesterday hinted that the members would meet today in an undisclosed venue to perfect their plans on when to present the impeachment notice on the floor of the senate..

According to him, the poor handling of the insurgency in the three states of North East of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe especially his constituency by the Jonathan’s administration despite huge sums of money being voted for the military, was deliberate. He said, “Are we going to wait and continue to tolerate a leader who, cannot stop the daily physical and psychological torture of my constituents.

The insurgency situation is threatening the corporate existence of Nigeria and the earlier we act, the better. ”Also speaking, Senator Ibrahim Musa representing Niger North, who alleged that the President had in many ways breached the constitution accused President Jonathan of insincerity in tackling the economic crisis currently affecting the country which he said was enough grouse to initiate an impeachment move against the president. He said, “The president has been breaching the constitution over the years and we have tolerated it enough.

This government has not been implementing the budget and that is why we are having problems with our economy.” One of the Senators had revealed that all members that had signed the impeachment letter which he said cuts across party lines would meet today to strategize on how to execute their plans.

The Senator who did not want to disclose his name for security reasons said that the meeting would prominently dwell on how best to present the impeachment proceedings on the floor of the senate so that it would get the approval of majority of the Senators. He said, “All of us would meet tomorrow (Monday) evening to discuss when we are going to move the motion on the floor of the senate. We have appreciable figure already and I believe that more people will join when they see the seriousness with which we are going about it.“Some of our colleagues were saying that we don’t have the liver to move it (impeachment motion) on the floor. We will soon execute our plans because it is in the best interest of all Nigerians”

One of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator who spoke to Vanguard on Thursday last week had disclosed that he had signed the impeachment letter and that seven Peoples Democratic Party, Senators also signed the impeachment letter.  He explained that the impeachment of President Jonathan would had been carried out before now if not the intervention of the Senate leadership especially, the Senate Prersident, David Mark, his deputy, Ike Ekweremadu, the Senate Leader, Victor Ndoma-Egba, and many other principal officers including the PDP Senators that had thwarted every move.  He, however, said that because of the recent invasion of the National Assembly by the police, which he alleged was sponsored by the presidency; Senators across party lines had agreed that the best way to rescue the nation from alleged impending anarchy was to impeach the President.
