temperatures will indubitably give Kuala Lampur a white Christmas, it doesn’t
mean that the Christmas spirit isn't on top. Shopping centres all over Malaysia
are decorated with Christmas lights and in Kuala Lampur with a large Christmas
tree display.
London, England
The Christmas tree in
Trafalgar square sure does its job in lightening up England’s capital in
December. It has been given as a present from Norway every year since 1947 as a
token of gratitude after Britain’s support in World War II.
Madrid, Spain
This huge illuminating
Christmas tree in Madrid’s city centre is decorated in gold and red. It will be
lit until 6 January when the Spaniards celebrate Dia De Los Reyes Magos, which
is the day they exchange presents and mark the last day of Christmas.
New York, USA
It is no wonder the tree
by Rockefeller Center in New York is a tourist attraction in itself. With the
star being made from 25,000 Swarovski crystals, the Christmas tree lights up
the city that never sleeps - making it one of the most festive places to be
around Christmas.
Paris, France
This year, Paris is home
to a rather unusual Christmas tree – it is upside down. Located in the Galeries
Lafayette, the sparkling tree in shades of purple and blue, hangs upside-down
from the ceiling and stretches along four floors.
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
The world’s highest
floating Christmas tree can be found in Brazil’s capital Rio de Janeiro,
according to the Guinness World Records. The 85 metre high tree on the Rodrigo
de Freitas lagoon will stay until 6 December.
Tokyo, Japan
A jewellery shop in
Tokyo called Tanaka Kikinzoku displays a $2, 56 million Christmas tree this
December, making it one of the most expensive trees in the world. Made from
platinum plates covered with characters from Disney’s Frozen, the 31kg tree
will be on display until Christmas day.
Washington, USA
Barack Obama and the
First Family lit the lights on the National Christmas tree in Washington on 4
December. Located at the National Park Foundation, the green and red tree is
digitally enhanced and the patterns are controlled by computers.
