Plane Diversion Smoke Detected

easyjet-400
Passengers on flight EZY6238 from Berlin reported the smell of smoke in the cabin.  An easy Jet plane on route to Bristol was forced to make a diversion last night after its pilot reported smoke in the cockpit.
The plane was diverted to Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport due to what the airline described as "a technical issue".

Emergency services were on hand to meet the jet when it landed, but passengers did not have to be evacuated - instead disembarking the plane normally.
Passenger Ellen Braksator took to Twitter to say: "We're all okay, there was a strong smell of smoke on flightdeck and emergency landed in Schiphol. No panic."

An easyJet spokeswoman said: "The safety and welfare of its passengers and crew is easyJet's highest priority.
"We would like to apologise for any inconvenience experienced due to the delay and will do all possible to keep passengers fully informed.

"Passengers are currently being cared for while their onward travel to Bristol is being arranged."
