As at Friday,
11 suspects, including the Baale, Chief Abioye, and his son, who were detained
over the weekend, were still being interrogated at the State Department of
Criminal Investigation and Intelligence, SDCII, Yaba.
The Baale of
Temidire Alagbado, Chief Nojeem Abioye, his son, and nine others have been
arrested in connection with the murder of Alhaji Olatunji Rasaq, alias Alaso,
who was killed penultimate Monday in Alagbado area of Lagos.
Alhaji
Olatunji was murdered during a protest by landlords and residents in the community,
led by Abioye, over allegations of land grabbing.
It was
gathered that the protest was peaceful until Tunji arrived the venue and began
to record events on video.
The
protesters, it was learned, rushed towards him and he ordered his driver to
speed off, hitting one Mr Raheem, alias Denge.
In his
defence Chief Abioye: “The community organised the protest because of the
activities of Tunji Alaso.
“The purpose
of the conference was to create awareness in the area and to tell the world
that Tunji has been threatening the peace of the community with his thugs as he
was selling off people’s land which were vacant and even those that are under
construction.
“It was a
peaceful protest until Tunji came and distrupted the protest with his thugs.”
Lagos State
Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Kenneth Nwosu, told Vanguard that 10
suspects, including Chief Abioye, were in Police custody at SDCII, Yaba, adding
