So
poignant and sad may God comfort Doyin’s family. Nigerian UK resident Doyin Sarah
Fagbenro, passed away after being involved in a car accident, her heart quietly
came to a rest after a strong yet brief battle with her injuries.
Two years ago, immediately
after graduation in the UK, Doyin choose to visit Nigeria where her
Grandparents reside - both of whom are in their Mid Eighties. Doyin's parent lived in the UK.
Doyin signed up for the
National Youth Service having freshly graduated with a sterling First Degree in
Law and a Post Grad immediately afterwards, she believed in a future positive
Nigeria, she fearlessly relocated to Nigeria.
Doyin was a victim of the
reckless and probably high on drinks/drugs 'Danfo' Driver. The most galling of
the entire episode was the fact that the driver of that Danfo survived
unscathed, RAN away from the scene leaving a trail of Death and Destruction in
his wake.
Four people died at the
scene Doyin’s New Toyota Corolla was a crumpled wreck.
Her Dad’s influence got
Doyin into a Lagoon Hospital where she was for a few days. When it became clear
that the extent of her injuries was too severe for the local facilities in
Nigeria,
An Air Ambulance was
scrambled from the United Kingdom to get Doyin into a Specialist Care in the
United Kingdom. Her tireless Mum who flew in from the United Kingdom, barely 48
hours after the accident, accompanied Doyin in the Air Ambulance.
The UK Surgeons tried
desperately to save Doyin but sadly she died a day after she arrived the United
Kingdom.
Doyin was born on November
28th, 1990 at Newham General Hospital in London, God’s first gift to her
parents Dayo & Dupe Fagbenro. She was followed by two brothers Dayo and
Dolapo, and finally a baby sister, Dotun, all of whom she often served as a
friend, mentor, leader and certainly more often than not; peacemaker.
Doyin was very intelligent
from a young age which quickly became apparent at Wigmore Primary School, where
her educational journey began. On completion she moved on to the King’s School
and shortly after to St Georges in Rome, where her academic ability became
evermore apparent through her SAT scores. The family returned to the UK and
shortly after she went on to shine in her academics throughout both her GCSEs
at Dame Alice Harper School, and the gruelling International Baccalaureate at
Bedford High School.
During her studies she had
developed a passion for Law that she went on to pursue at Queen Mary’s
University. She quickly found her feet there, and as a vibrant, popular and
self-assured member of the student body she was soon appointed to various
positions of responsibility within the Law and Afro-Carribbean Societies and
went on to be recognised as a Rare Rising Star, one of the Top 10 Black
Students in the UK.
Doyin was brave to abandon
her good life in the UK and moved to Nigeria to bring about positive changes.
Doyin is loved by many, she
will be greatly missed.
so sad RIP
