Mike Adenuga Honoured By City People Man of Year 2015 Award

Prominent Nigerians such as former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan, who conceded defeat in the last general elections, former chairman of the
Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Attahiru Jega, who conducted successful elections in 2015, former Governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Fashola, and Alhaji Aliko Dangote who established Dangote Cement in other African countries had earlier been nominated for the same award.

Chairman of the Mike Adenuga Group, Dr. Mike Adenuga Jr was honoured with the City People Man of the Year award for the year 2015, due to his philanthropic gestures within and outside Nigeria.

While citing the award, City People underscored that Dr. Adenuga had remained steadfast in giving to various charitable causes over the years, describing him as a “self-effacing philanthropist.”

“Last year alone, unknown to many, Dr. Mike Adenuga touched the lives of very many people from the Arts to Music, Politics and Business and even ordinary Nigerians,” the citation disclosed.

It added that Dr Adenuga had over the last 20 years made silent donations to about 5,000 elderly senior citizens as allowances on a monthly basis. And at the end of the year, he picked another 1,000 Nigerians across the country to endow and empower economically. “But as a rule, he does not talk about it. And those around him are expected to keep quiet,” City People noted.

“Through his businesses in the telecommunications, aviation, real estate oil, gas and other sectors, he is helping to set the pace and contributing to the growth of African economies, providing direct employment to thousands of Nigerians and people from the international community, as well as millions of others in indirect employment,” the citation stated.
