Ayoola Gam-Ikon, a lawyer
and business filed a lawsuit of N1billion against former Super Eagles captain,
Nwankwo Kanu at a Lagos State High Court in Ikeja.
He claimed Kanu on March 5,
2013 arraigned him on 19 counts of fraud by the police following a complaint
against him.
However, Gam-Ikon claimed
the charges were struck out on July 30, 2015 by the chief magistrate, following
the legal advice from the Federal Director of Public Prosecutions absolving him
of the alleged offences.
Gam-Ikon, who claimed to
have lost valuable time and years of his prime life facing trial, urged the
court to award N1bn damages against the former Arsenal attacker.
The claimant also urged the
court to order Kanu to pay interest of twenty-two percent on the claimed sum
from December 15, 2015 till the judgment day and ten percentage-interest on the
claimed sum from judgment day till the claimed sum will be fully paid.
