UK Stormy Weather Affects Road, Rail n Ferry 5,000 Homes Without Electricity

Following the stormy wind Gatwick and Heathrow airports warned flights may be disrupted by air traffic restrictions due to the weather, advising passengers to check with their airlines.

Due to stormy wind the Severn Bridge on the M48 has been closed and part of the A35 bypass at Dorchester has also been shut due to flooding, Highways England said.

The Port of Dover was closed for two hours overnight, with the authority tweeting on Monday that it was monitoring the situation.

The UK’s ninth storm of the winter season affects road, rail and ferry networks and leaves almost five thousands homes without power.
P&O Ferries tweeted that its Dover to Calais route would be disrupted, while Brittany Ferries said many of its sailings would also see disruption, with "significant" disruption on its services to Spain.

Elsewhere, services from Liverpool to Dublin and from Newhaven to Dieppe have been cancelled.

Speed restrictions are affecting train services by Arriva Trains Wales, Great Western Railway, Southern, South West Trains, the Gatwick Express, South-eastern and Thameslink services until at least 5pm due to high winds, according to National Rail Enquiries.
