Khan had a big hit covering
deceased Prince's “I Feel For You” in 1984 and the two were good friends, she said
she was taking action to save her life so she does not end up like Prince.
Talented singer Chaka Khan
has gone into rehab, saying she is addicted to the same potent drug that led to
the death of her friend Prince.
Yvonne Stevens, the Grammy
award winner's sister, has also entered the rehabilitation and aftercare
programme.
In a statement on Sunday,
the US singer said: "The tragic death of Prince has had us both rethinking
and re-evaluating our lives and priorities.
"We knew it was time
to take action to save our lives. My sister and I would like to thank everyone
for their support, love and prayers."
The sixty-three-year-old
star apologised to fans that she would now miss appearances over the summer but
said it was "vital that I put my health and well-being first".
