Portugal 1st European Champions Defeats France

Portugal has defeated Spain who won the two previous finals played in the European competition but were sent parking by Italy in the quarter finals.
Portugal are the new European champions!

The Portuguese national team yesterday defeated tournament hosts France at the Stade de France to clinch the title.

Cristiano Ronaldo was replaced with Ricardo Quaresma 25 minutes into the game due to an injury suffered before half time.

The game officiated by English referee Mark Clattenburg had over 75,000 spectators in the arena.

Eder’s 110th minute strike handed Portugal the trophy after the game ended goalless in 90 minutes before proceeding to extra time.

It’s been a lucky journey for the new champs Portugal who didn’t grab a win in group stage and qualified to play off round as the third placed team in the group.

Germany and Wales came close but couldn’t make through the semi finals as the European Championships is the only major  tournament which does not have a third place playoff.
