APC Shed More Light On Amaechi’s Political Ambition For 2019

In a statement issued in Port Harcourt on Wednesday, September 28 and signed by its state publicity secretary, Senibo Chris Finebone, APC debunk rumour.
The Rivers state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has debunked claims by the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state that Transportation Minister Rotimi Amaechi had a political ambition for 2019.

The party said the contemplation only exists in the mind of the PDP chairman in the state, Chief Felix Obuah, Leadership reports.

The statement read: “On the ridiculous reference to Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi’s supposed ambition for 2019, such contemplation only exists in the terribly deluded mind and helplessly battered imagination of Felix Obuah and his cohorts. Rt. Hon. Chibuke Rotimi Amaechi does not harbour nor has he told anyone that he is nursing any political ambition come 2019. That is not how the minister is wired politically.”

The APC said it was former President Goodluck Jonathan who betrayed the Niger Delta Delta people and not Amaechi.

According to the party, Jonathan betrayed the Niger Delta people by refusing to complete the East-West Road, the Bodo-Bonny Road and the Port Harcourt International Airport during his administration.

The APC accused the ex-president of refusing to refund the N105 billion spent on federal roads by the state government.

Finebone said the former president also betrayed Amaechi and the Rivers people by handing over the Soku Oil wells to Bayelsa state.

He noted that Amaechi as a governor, never had any misunderstanding with Jonathan over personal matters.

“Whether on the vexed issue of NLNG Train 7 which the former President refused to approve or the matter of Soku Oil Wells and others that were taken and handed to Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom and Abia states and many other touchy issues, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi was only driven by the oath of office he took to protect lives and property of Rivers people as governor. No more!,” the party said.

Weeks back, Amaechi had said APC is the only political party that has development and security plans for the people of Rivers state. He added that only the APC-led federal government can bring about genuine and effective security to the state.
