List Of Clubs Chelsea Will Not Do Business With

The west London club have almost built a side business of trading young players with the sole purpose of making money, with some eventually helping the Chelsea first team.
As club football returns following the international break, don’t be surprised to see that a Chelsea loanee has performed well in the coming weeks.
For every Thibaut Courtois, who improved immeasurably as a goalkeeper at Atletico Madrid, there are the likes of Romelu Lukaku and Kevin De Bruyne, who slipped the net.

For more on Chelsea’s current loan policy, see: Chelsea have 38 players out on loan. Here’s the list.

Tammy Abraham stars for Bristol City
One of Chelsea’s most successful loanees so far in 2016/2017 has been young striker Tammy Abraham.

With five goals in six matches for Bristol City, Abraham has already signalled that he is a young forward to keep an eye on, whether he makes the Chelsea first team or not.

Intriguingly, Bristol City chief operating officer Mark Ashton has revealed not only just how difficult it is for lower league clubs to loan players from Chelsea but also that there are certain clubs the Blues will not do business with.

“They gave me a list of clubs they would not do business with”
Speaking with the Bristol Post, Ashton revealed: “At the end of last season, Lee (Johnson) went to Chelsea’s training ground and presented to Michael Emenalo, while I went to Stanford Bridge and met Roman Abramovic’s board of directors. They had tried these arrangements with English clubs before and, in their words, they hadn’t worked. They gave me a list of clubs they would not do business with.

Ashton continues: “I asked them to give us Tammy for the season and then judge us on what we do, not what we say. I told them we would show them what we could do and then build a long-term relationship.

“We then did the deal with Chelsea and sorted all of the finances, which were far from straightforward. Then we had to wait for Mr Conte.”

The current Chelsea boss gave his blessing to the deal once he arrived at Stamford Bridge after coaching Italy at Euro 2016 and you suspect, Ashton could well be answering many more questions about tammy Abraham this season.
