An unreleased song,
entitled Blaze, is thought to have been completed at the latter end of David Bowie
husband to supermodel Iman, his studio sessions for critically-acclaimed LP
Blackstar, which topped the charts and simultaneously impressed critics.
The brand new David Bowie
song - his last-ever complete recording - has been discovered nine months after
his death.
According to a report in
The Times , the previously unknown track was found during research for a new
book about the late icon, who lost his battle with cancer in January.
Despite his ill health at
the time, Bowie's recording is said to "transport the listener on waves of
optimism", according to Nicholas Pegg, author of The Complete David Bowie,
who personally discovered the audio.
He says the lyrics showed
Bowie “returning to his long-cherished motif of space travel as an existential
metaphor”, while “the title [ Blaze ] is apt; the Blackstar sessions concluded
in a blaze of glory,” .

The Times add that the
elusive song was originally considered for the Lazarus musical soundtrack,
although it was later scrapped in favour of more well-known material.
Frustratingly, it remains
unclear whether fans will ever get to hear the recording as there's no
indication from Bowie's management that it will ever formally be released.
The news comes shortly
after Lazarus co-writer, Enda Walsh, revealed that Bowie still had plenty more
to give.
