HIsbah Commander on Special
Services, Mallam Salisu Umar, disclosed to newsmen that the suspects were
arrested in the Sabon Gari neighbourhood within the metropolis during a special
patrol by the Fegge Local Government Office of the board.
The Kano State Hisbah Board
has commenced the prosecution of 11 women, who were caught drinking alcohol as
well as smoking cannabis.
The women were also accused
of engaging in amorous activities with men, who were not their husbands.
Ironically, there was no
report on the arrest of the men, who engaged in alleged amorous activities with
the women.
According to him, the state
has been practicing the Islamic legal code, which prohibits such illicit
conduct.
Umar pointed out that four
of the suspects were divorcees while one of them was carrying a three-month old
pregnancy.
Umar explained that the
suspects had been interrogated and charged to court.
The case has been adjourned
till November 14, 2016.
