Oyo Hunters n Fulani At Loggerhead 500 Cows Missing

Guardian reports that Fulani were said to have closed down all meat markets in the area as a form of protest over their missing cows.
About 500 cows belonging to the Fulani herdsmen were said to have gone missing recently in the Oke Ogun area of the state, with the owners accusing people of the communities in the area of stealing their live stocks.

The indigenes have issued a warning to the herdsmen not to take the laws into their hands, but rather conduct themselves within the peacefully, while a solution is being sought.
Chairman of the Soludero Hunters Association, Chief Oladejo Oladapo and the President of the association, Chief Nureni Ajijola Idris have advised the Fulani socio-cultural organization, Jamu Nati Fulbe Association of Nigeria not to resort to violence as the state government and police are making arrangement to resolve the disappearance of their cows.

He gave the advice while speaking with newsmen in Ibadan at the weekend. According to the Head Hunter, it would be helpful for the herdsmen to toe the path of peace as violence would only escalate the matter.

National Chairman of the Fulani herdsmen, Alhaji Saliu Kadir, had, a fortnight ago, lamented that since the report of the sudden disappearance of their cattle was made, the committee that was set up to address the issue had been too lackadaisical towards the plight of those affected by the massive loss.

Adebutu, Accused Ogun State Of Frustrating Water Project
According report a member of the House of Representatives, Oladipupo Adebutu, has accused the Ogun State Government of frustrating a water project being undertaken by him as one of his constituency projects.

Adebutu, representing Ikenne/ Sagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency, said the project is located at Lugoke community in Ward Four, Iperu-Remo, Ikenne Local Government Area of the state.

Adebutu, while briefing journalists on Friday, accused the state Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Wale Osinowo, of disrupting the constituency project.
He alleged that the commissioner, an indigene of the town, led political thugs to stop workers at the project site.

Adebutu, who is the Chairman of the House Committee on Rural Development, said the project would ensure the provision of clean, potable and safe water to rural dwellers.

He said, “Unfortunately, the state government is denying its  people the opportunity to get safe water. It is really sad and quite unfortunate.”

But in a swift reaction, Osinowo denied the allegation levelled against him by Adebutu.

He explained that it was local government officials from the water corporation who stormed the site.
He said, “How can I invade the site? Am I a politician? My mother lives in the area where the project was sited and I only went there to visit my mother. Is there a crime in that?

“When I got there, there was disorderliness and I tried to settle the matter. What I saw was that the person supervising the project was very rude to the government officials that came.”

The leader of Lugoke community, Mr. Aliu Fatoye, appealed to the state government to allow the community to host the constituency project.
Meanwhile, a clash between Fulani community and Mumuye people clash In Taraba has left several people dead and many injured.

Officials of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), went for an on-the-spot assessment of the affected areas to ascertain the level of damages in order to provide assistance to the affected persons.
