The attack
occurred at Tse-Achia village near Kasar in the outskirts of Zaki Biam, Ukum
Local Government Area.
Police in
Makurdi, Benue state capital said on Friday, March 23 that some assailants have
attacked a village in fresh violence that erupted in the middle belt state in
the early hours of the day.
ASP Moses
Yanmu, Benue state Police Command spokesman, who confirmed the incident, said
the arsonists carried out the attack in the early hours of Friday. Yanmu said
four houses were burnt while three persons, including a woman, were burned in
one of the houses. He noted that preliminary investigations revealed that the
attack could be `retaliatory.’
According to him, early investigations revealed
that the driver who drove the vehicle that conveyed the people that attacked
Zaki Biam was from the village that was attacked on Friday.
Yanmu assured
that the attackers would be caught and brought to justice.
Gunmen had
besieged Zaki Biam village and shot everyone in sight. After the attack, not
fewer than 30 people lay dead and several others were injured. After the

Following a
raid by some gunmen suspected to herdsmen in Zaki Biam, Ukum local government
area of Benue state, which left 30 people dead, the Nigeria Police Force has
swung into action to prevent further violence.
The Police
IGP Ibrahim Idris has deployed special tactical force to the area, led by a
commissioner of police and under the supervision of a deputy inspector general
of police in the department of operations.
