Over 150 heavily armed security personnel - mostly from Abuja - will be deployed to Niger state as the former governor's trial begins on Tuesday, April 25.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) will on Tuesday, April 25, arraign a former governor of Niger state Babangida Aliyu. Aliyu will be arraigned before the Niger state High Court served over corrupt allegation against him while he was a two-term governor in the state.

Thisday reports that the former governor's trial will begin on Tuesday amidst fear and tension among residents of Minna, Niger state capital.
some of the civil servants in the state filled the court premises in a bid to embarrass the former governor over the backlog of payment of salaries owed to them.
The governor during his tenure failed to pay 7.5% increase in the salaries of the civil servants before leaving office. Sources said some of those engaged in the plan to harass the former governor were arrested by operatives of the Department of State Services at the Court.
