The German manager is on the verge of leading the Super Eagles to the 2018 World Cup tournament in Russia as they lead CAF qualifying Group B with six points having defeated Zambia and Algeria in their first two games.
The Nigeria Football Federation has revealed the reason Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr is being owed salaries of up to three months. The Nigerian football house is highly noted for owing coaches wages, salaries and bonuses.
When asked about the issue, Rohr said: ‘’it’s a personal issue and there is no problem between me and my employers’’.
The NFF stated sponsors who were willing to pay the coach’s salaries disappointed and failed to fulfill their initial pledge to pay the salary of the coach at the last minute. Some private companies have promised to help the NFF out of their misery to pay the devoted Super Eagles manager his salary.
‘’It is unfortunate that the status of a government official in the oil sector changed, if not, we’ll not be talking about the non-payment of Rohr’s salary.", a top official of the NFF said. "As we talk, am sure that his salaries will be cleared. We’ve gotten promises from partners and sponsors and we’ll not waste time in clearing his salaries,” he added.
