

The
security personnel waded off attempts by the students to forcefully gain
entrance into the complex.
Members
of the NANS stormed the National Assembly complex on Friday, June 9, to protest
the non-recognition of their president, Mr Chinonso Obasi. The students who
were in their dozens had a scuffle with security agents attached to the complex
as they tried to gain access into the building. The student body has been
enmeshed in a power tussle for a long while.
Following
the power tussle, the association has now split into two factions.
As
at the time the incident was going on, the National Assembly plenary was
ongoing as both chambers are celebrating two years as legislators in the 8th
Assembly.
A
recent report by Washington Post suggests that President Buhari's health
problems has left without Nigeria strong direction. Another report by Wall
Street Journal suggested that Nigeria is facing a potential political crisis
fueled by Buhari’s worsening health.
