Previous winners of the US Open include Switzerland’s Stan Wawrinka, Germany’s Angelique Kerber, Britain’s Andy Murray and Serena Williams of the U.S.
For the very first time in history, a Nigerian Priest named Father Paul Arinze will be among the officials at the 2017 US Open championship that will start on August 28 to September 10. 
The much heralded competition is expected to hold at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, in Flushing, New York. Father Paul Arinze is the pastor of St. John Vianney parish in Janesville, Wisconsin. He is also a line and chair umpire who has officiated at every major tennis event around the world plus several Olympic games.

He was ordained as a Roman Catholic Priest in 1999, and also officiated at the London 2012 Paralympic Games and the 2016 Rio Summer Olympic Games.
