Alexis Sanchez is
understood to be “devastated”, after his move from Arsenal to Manchester City
fell apart on transfer deadline day.
The Gunners accepted City’s
second bid of £55m plus £5m in add-ons on Thursday, but the deal could only be
ratified if Arsene Wenger brought in a new attacking player.
Monaco’s Thomas Lemar was
one of the replacements targeted, while the other was Paris Saint-Germain’s
Julian Draxler.
Arsenal initially agreed to
pay the £92m Monaco demanded for the 21-year-old, but there appears to be
insufficient time for them to agree a package with Lemar, who is in the France
squad for this evening’s game against Holland.
