It was learnt that Adesoye was arrested along with 49 others by operatives of the Lagos State Task Force on Environmental and Special Offences (Enforcement) Unit on Saturday.
A suspected drug peddler, Sunday Adesoye, aka Malboro, has been arrested for dealing in cannabis in Akala, Mushin, Lagos State.
Forty eight bags of illicit drugs were said to have been recovered from the suspects.
Adesoye, in his statement to the police, reportedly stated that he sold cannabis and other drugs worth N500,000 on a daily basis at Akala.

The task force Chairman, SP Olayinka Egbeyemi, said another suspect, Mrs. Basirat Jimoh, aka Iya Suzzy, who hails from Ibadan, Oyo State, also confessed to have been trading in cannabis and other illicit drugs in the community for over 17 years.

Egbeyemi said, “One of the suspected notorious criminals Sunday Adesoye, aka Malboro, confessed that Akala served as a central market for cannabis and illicit drugs to all miscreants and hoodlums in Lagos.

“He confessed further that he sold an average of N500,000 worth of Indian hemp and other illicit drugs daily to his customers from Obalende, Oshodi, Pen-Cinema, Apapa, Lagos Island and Fadeyi, among others.

“Altogether, 44 males and six females suspects were arrested and they had been charged before Magistrate Lateef Owolabi of the Lagos State Mobile Court on three counts of unlawful possession of weeds suspected to be Indian hemp, trading in Indian hemp and conduct likely to cause breach of the peace.”

Egbeyemi said the raid was an enforcement of an operation Eradication of Criminal Hideouts initiated by the Lagos State Acting Commissioner of Police Imohimi Edgal.

“Forty eight bags of substances suspected to be cannabis and packs of other illicit drugs such as Novalgin with Codeine cough syrup and Tuxil-C cough mixture were recovered.

“This agency and other police units are battle ready to stop criminal activities across the state as initiated and directed by the CP,” Egbeyemi added.
The task force spokesperson, Taofiq Adebayo, said the suspects pleaded not guilty to the charges and had been granted bail by the court.
