According to a UNICEF 2014
report, 1 in 4 girls in Nigeria would have had at least one violent sexual
encounter, usually at the hands of a family member, friend, or acquaintance by
the time she reaches the age of 18.
These sexual attacks and
assaults typically take place in spaces considered safe havens, such as their
homes and schools.
WARIF is committed to
improving these dire statistics through impactful initiatives such as the WARIF
School Educational Program, designed to
raise awareness and prevent
adolescent children in Nigerian public schools from becoming victims of sexual
violence.
Please join us today as
WARIF participates in Giving Tuesday as we launch, with the support of The
Advocacy Project,
the Global Giving Campaign
to educate and empower 200 secondary school children from each of our selected
schools.
