According to report, alleged fake lawyer,
Uche Nwajiakwu, was arrested by the Ojo division of the Lagos State Police
Command.
Nwajiakwu was picked up on
Friday, May 25, on the premises of the Ojo Magistrates’ Court after he
reportedly applied for a bail for his client.
It was learnt that some
experienced lawyers observed that Nwajiakwu’s presentation was “too poor,”
which made them reported him to the police that arrested him.
The Punch was told that the
outcome of a police investigation into Nwajiakwu’s activities reportedly
revealed that he did not study law in any Nigerian university or anywhere else
in the world.
It was also learnt that
Nwajiakwu, who was the second lawyer to be arrested as an impostor at the Ojo
Magistrates’ Court, after Chris Elisha that was arrested on February 6, 2018,
decided to impersonate and he was given money for faking as a lawyer for his
friend who contracted him to file a notice to quit on his tenant.
A police source said,
“Investigation into the case showed that the suspect did not study law
anywhere.
“He fell in love with law
practice when a friend of his contracted him to act as a lawyer in order to
serve a notice to quit on his tenant. He was handsomely rewarded after the deed
and since then, there had been no looking back for him.”
The source said Nwajiakwu
had been in the game since 2015, adding that he would be arraigned for
impersonation.
The state Police Public
Relation Officer, SP Chike Oti, who confirmed the arrest of the fake lawyer,
said he had been arraigned in the Ojo Magistrates’ Court.
