Kidnapped Undergraduate Rescued Men Arrested

Rivers state police command on Wednesday, August 15, arrested 35 suspected armed robbers and kidnappers at the command headquarters in Port Harcourt, the capital of the state.
A witness who was there when the suspects were being arrested affirmed that one of the suspects, Uchenna Chinaka, a driver of a bus carrying 15 passengers who were kidnapped but later rescued by a crack team of anti-kidnapping unit of the police on Friday, August 10, was among those paraded.

It was a good news in Imo state as operatives of the anti-kidnapping unit of the Imo state police command rescued an undergraduate of Madonna University, Okija, Anambra state, Esther Nnabuo from the den of kidnappers.

The Punch reports that the police commissioner of the state, Dasuki Galadanchi, while answering questions from journalists on Thursday, September 27, at the police command headquarters, said the operatives also recovered the sum of N200,000 paid as the ransom for the 18-year-old's freedom.
The name of the suspects, as made available by the police boss, are: Onyekachi Chinemerem (23), of Isiala Ngwa of Abia state; Uchechukwu Nwakoma (36), of Isiala Ngwa of Abia state; and Onyewuchi Chibueze (27), of Mbaitoli, Imo state.
Shedding more light on the incident, the police boss said:“Sequel to the kidnap of miss Esther Nnabuo, operatives of the command swiftly swung into action. The victim is a student of Madonna University, Okija, Anambra state. She was abducted at Ukwo Orji, in Mbaitoli LGA.

“In the course of investigation, the victim was rescued unhurt through intelligence and data tracking analysis at Ukwo Orji forest. Three suspects were arrested, while the victim’s telephone and the ransom were recovered.

“The names of the suspects are Onyekachi Chinemerem, of Isiala Ngwa, Abia State; Uchechukwu Nwakoma, of Isiala Ngwa, Abia State; and Onyewuchi Chibueze, of Mbaitoli, Imo state.”

He later submitted that those suspects will be prosecuted and be made to face the wrath of the law.
