India has unveiled the
world’s tallest statue, beating the Spring Temple Buddha in China which
previously held the record.
The gigantic 597 ft
monument of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel who is regarded as one of the founding
fathers of India is 200ft taller than the previous record holder and is almost
twice the height of the Statue of Liberty.
The Prime Minister Narendra
Modi inaugurated the 597ft tall statue of India’s late independence leader
Sardar Vallabbhai Patel on the bank of the Narmada river in Kevadia, in the
western state of Gujarat.
The statue was unveiled
nearly after 5 years of construction which cost £450million.
