Bottle Of Nigerian Groundnut Sells For N3000 In The US

The internet has been thrown into a frenzy after a bottle of groundnut was pictured in the US, selling for N3000.
There are many expensive things in Nigeria that its citizens will break the bank for but groundnut is not one of those. This is simply because the country is blessed with it so much that a full bowl of the nuts will sell for as little as N100.

This is however not the case in foreign countries, where groundnut is considered a luxury. A viral photo of a bottle of groundnut, being sold for N3000 in the US surfaced on the internet and a lot of people thought it was completely outrageous. Although, some thought it a brilliant business idea and a good source of revenue for the country, if it ever started exporting nuts.

Interestingly, groundnut is mainly grown in northern states such as Kaduna, Taraba, Kano, Borno Bauchi and Adamawa. It is mostly consumed as a snack and also used in making oil for cooking.
