Enugu state command of the Nigeria police force has commenced investigations into the alleged assassination attempt on the spiritual director of the Adoration Ministry Enugu Nigeria (AMEN), Rev Fr Ejike Mbaka.
Legit.ng regional reporter in Enugu, Ikpechukwu Chinedu, reports that this was contained in a statement issued by the state police public relations officer, SP Ebere Amarizu, on Monday, December 10, after the state commissioner of police, Danmallam Mohammed, together with other senior officers of the command, visited the priest at the adoration ground, Umuchigbo, Enugu east local government area.
In his remark, Danmallam informed the priest that he came to see him and to find out things in relations to the said incident which he described as unfortunate as he assured that his operatives would stop at nothing at carrying out a full scale investigations into the said attempt on him .
Amarizu noted that Rev Fr. Mbaka also thanked the commissioner of police and his entourage for the visit which according to him, has portrayed the police as a friend who feels for the members of the public.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that Governor of Ebonyi state and chairman of southeast governors' forum, David Umahi, called on security agencies to investigate and unravel the circumstances surrounding the alleged assassination attempt on the controversial Catholic priest, Fr Ejike Mbaka.
It was reported that Umahi who made this known to journalists through a statement signed by his chief press secretary, Emmanuel Uzor, described the alleged attack on the priest as highest provocation of man against God and called for full scale investigation to unravel those behind the attempted assassination.
Umahi also called on the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris, to dispatch a crack team to investigate the alleged attack.
