The wife of Nigeria's
firsts head of state, late Major General Johnson Aguiyi-Ironsi, has added her
voice to the ongoing beats for the 2019 general election.
Victoria Aguiyi-Ironsi
promised to work with Nkechi Caroline Ikpeazu, the wife of the Abia state
governor, Okezie Ikpeazu to the deliver the state to the Peoples Democratic
Party.
Speaking on Wednesday,
January 16, at a special town hall meeting organised for Abia women by the PDP,
Victoria said she will lead the fight to a better Nigeria in Abia state.
She also promised to
mobilise women of the state for the PDP ahead of the 2019 general election.
Victoria said: "I will
lead this fight in Abia, and I promise you that you will never regret it. I
will lead Abia women to vote for Atiku."
Joined by Madam Victoria,
women at the meeting took turns to assure PDP of victory while calling for
adequate women empowerment and appointments.
One of the participants
said: "The PDP government was the one that produced Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala
and Dora Akunyili and I'm aware Atiku was part of the government then, we urge
him to do more for women in his government to sustain the legacy of PDP, so we
won't be relegated to the background as APC government is doing."
In her reaction, Jennifer
Abubakar, a wife to PDP's presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar assured Abia
women of favourable positions should he husband win the forthcoming
presidential election scheduled to hold on February 16.
Also addressing the women
while receiving Jennifer, the second deputy chairman, Abia state council of
Ndi-Eze, HRM Eze Elder S.A. Okorie said: "Abia is a very peaceful state
being controlled by the PDP. We also need a PDP President, a president that can
stop cows from eating up all our crops in the farm."
On his part, HRM Eze Kalu
Kalu Ogburu Enachioke of Abiriba, eulogized the PDP presidential candidate,
describing him as a detrabilised Nigerian who has his goodwill spread across
the length and breadth of Nigeria.
"Atiku came to my
community in Abiriba in 1992 to donate to the less privileged, we are going to
reciprocate it this time around, by mobilising for his election. Atiku is a
destabilized Nigerian," he said.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng
previously reported that Atiku Abubakar, had visited the palace of the Ooni of
Ife, Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, during his campaign trip to Osun state.
Atiku said his visit to the
