The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Wednesday, January 16, made moves to seek the final forfeiture of $8.4million and N7.4 billion allegedly linked to the wife of the former president, Patience Jonathan.
Channel TV reports that the EFCC made this move while filing an application before Justice Mojisola Olatoregun of the Federal High Court sitting in Lagos.

The counsel to the EFCC, Rotimi Oyedepo, informed the court that the immediate past First Lady allegedly diverted the funds from a Non-Governmental Organisation linked to her Women for Change Initiative.

Oyedepo said most of the funds were fraudulently diverted from the NGO to other accounts of the second to sixth respondents – companies also believed to be owned by the former first lady.

He added that as regards the $8.4 million, Mrs Jonathan had not been able to disclose to the court the identities of those who made the donations to the NGO.

Oyedepo said the anti-graft agency has evidences placed before the court to show that the former first lady was the sole signatory to the companies’ accounts.

The EFCC among other things alleged that First Lady, the companies – Globus Integrated Services Ltd., Finchley Top Homes Ltd., Am-Pm Global Network Ltd., Pagmat Oil and Gas Ltd. Magel Resort Ltd., and Esther Oba, conspired to commit the offences.

Justice Olatoregun, however, fixed February 11 to deliver judgment in the application after listening to the arguments of the EFCC and the respondents in the matter.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that many internet users have been left surprised as former first lady, Patience Jonathan, was spotted looking all shades of gorgeous as she stepped out recently in Rivers state.

Reports revealed that the 52-year-old wife of former President Jonathan was attending the burial ceremony of late Mrs Patience Aduko Johnson Okpoko and made sure to look delectable as she showed up to pay her last respects to the deceased.
