Atiku says there is no public officer who hasn’t been accused of corruption

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has said there is hardly any public officer in Nigeria that has not been accused of corruption.
 Atiku made the statement when replying to a question from a CNN correspondent about the corruption allegations against, The Cable reports. 
The former vice president stated that the corruption allegations against him have not stood the test of time.

“They have not stood the test of time, there is no public officer that is not accused of corruption,” Atiku said.

In another interview with the CNN, the Cable reports that the presidential candidate noted that the claims against him were mere allegations that had not yet been proven in court.

"I have asked anybody, I have dared people publicly, that if anybody has any evidence of corruption against me, let him come out,” he said. 
Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari has said his bid for a second term was to put the country on a sound footing for the good of all Nigerians.

Buhari made the statement on Thursday, February 14, when he paid a visit to the palace of the Emir of Katsina, Alhaji Abdulmumini Kabir, The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.

Buhari said his visit to all the 36 stares in the country has emboldened him continue with the fight against corruption and repositioning of the economy.
