President
Muhammadu Buhari has urged Nigerians to not be afraid of violence as they
prepare to cast their votes in the coming general elections which commences
tomorrow.
President
Buhari is contested for re-election on the platform of the All Progressives
Congress, APC. His main challenger is former vice president Atiku Abubakar of
the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Assuring
Nigerians that his order against ballot box snatching isn’t a threat on
Nigerians, Buhari said:
“Do not be
afraid of rumours of violence and unrest.
“Our
security agencies have worked diligently to ensure that adequate security
measures are in place.
“As your
President, I hereby ask all Nigerians with voting cards to participate in
defining the future of our nation by exercising your democratic rights
tomorrow. I urge you to go out and vote,” the president said.
Meanwhile,
the APC have said that Buhari will congratulate whoever emerges winner if he is
defeated at the poll.
