Justice Chuka Obiozor of the Lagos division of the Federal High Court has recused himself from the criminal trial of Paul Usoro, the president of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), making him the second judge to withdraw from the trial.
Usoro is facing a N1.8 billion fraud charge brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Premium Times reports.

Legit.ng notes that Justice Muslim Hassan had recused himself from the trial in 2018 and returned the case file for reassignment.

Obiozor said: “For personal reasons, I hereby disqualify myself from handling the case. I hereby return this file back to the chief judge of the Federal High Court for reassignment.”

Recall that Legit.ng previously reported that the president of the Nigeria Bar Association, Paul Usoro (SAN), pleaded not guilty in a Lagos Federal High Court, to charges bordering on fraud, preferred against him by the EFCC.

The anti-graft commission preferred a 10-count charge against the accused.

Also named in the charge, is the incumbent governor of Akwa Ibom, Emmanuel Udom, who is currently constitutionally immune from prosecution.
