Player Threatens To Quit Real Madrid if Jose Mourinho Is Reappointed As Manager

Real Madrid is going through what is seemingly its worst season in ages. The month of March has just begun, but the Spanish giants are already out of all major competitions this season.

Last week’s incidents will remain unforgotten among Real Madrid’s players, management and the supporters for a long time to come. They began by crashing out of the Copa del Rey thanks to the loss in the semifinals against Barcelona, before the Catalans inflicted another loss on them in the La Liga, knocking them out of the title challenge there as well.

The worst of defeats was yet to come, as the Merengues failed to capitalise on a 2-1 lead from the Champions League round-of-16 first leg against Ajax. The Dutch side returned strongly in the second leg to defeat Madrid 4-1, eliminating them from the Champions League as well.

A few players and coach Santiago Solari received most of the blame for Madrid’s current situation, and club President Florentino Perez is completely set for a major squad overhaul.

Many big names like Marcelo, Toni Kroos and so on have been heard searching for an exit door, while Neymar is reported to come in.

Similarly, Solari is expected to leave, with Jose Mourinho being the most favoured replacement choice as manager, among other options like Jurgen Klopp, Mauricio Pochettino and so on.

Meanwhile, fresh reports suggest that rumours of signing Mourinho haven’t gone down well with star defender and captain, Sergio Ramos. The Spanish centerback famously had a rift with Perez after last week’s loss against Ajax, and was expected to shift base to Juventus.

If the lastest reports from Daily Mail are to be believed, his transfer to Juventus, or for that matter any other club, could materialise if the Portuguese man is appointed manager.

Mourinho has a previous experience with Real Madrid, having coached them between 2010 and 2013. During this period, he fell out with many players including Ramos and then-captain and goalkeeper Iker Casillas.

Sergio Ramos joined the Merengues in 2005, moving in from Sevilla via a deal that cost €27million. His current contract runs out next year, and based on how things stand, Real Madrid seriously risks losing their captain.

The Daily Mail further added that Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema and so on are also “not interested” in playing under Mourinho.

But Perez has seemingly silenced his players, saying that they “had no voice in the appointment” following their disastrous displays on-field.
