Nigerian owned businesses
and shops have been vandalised and goods stolen in a fresh Xenophobic attack
which took place on Tuesday in Mpumalanga Province, South Africa.
Report stated that about
eight Nigerians were abducted by South Africans in Evander, north-west of
Secunda in Mpumalanga province of the country. The abducted persons have since
been released after government intervention. Others were beaten mercilessly
during the Xenophobic attack by residents
According to the president
of the Nigerian union in South Africa, Adetola Olubajo, the abducted Nigerians
were released on Wednesday after their union pressured the South African
authorities.
“The mob arrested eight
Nigerians and took them to an unknown destination”, Olubajo said.
