Muhammedu Buhari Utters Respect For Nigerian Judiciary

President Muhammadu Buhari has admitted that he respects the judiciary and is prepared to follow its decisions always.
The President, on Wednesday 22 May 2019, while speaking at an Iftar dinner with the representatives of the third arm of the government at his residence explained to his invited
guests how he visited the court three times during his journey in becoming the president of Nigeria.

According to Buhari, he stressed that he believes that the judiciary should be independent and respected by all due to their words on issues being the final words. He said;

“I respect the institution. I have come before you three times before I got here on the fourth run for the office. Your word is the last word on any given issue.”

Garba Shehu, Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, in his statement, said that the president was full of praise for the abilities of Nigerian judges, explaining that president Buharis experience over time has earned him much respect.

“Your training and experience have earned you respect.”

Also speaking at the dinner was Justice Ibrahim Tanko Mohammed, the Acting Chief Justice of the Federation, who appreciated the Ramadhan fast breaking.  Alongside the acting chief was leading retired Chief Justices, some Justices of the Supreme Court and heads of courts in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, who assured that the judiciary will continue to do its best in safeguarding Nigeria’s democracy.
