

An explosion that took place on Wednesday, June 12, in Port Harcourt Mall, located beside the Government House left about five persons seriously injured.
The disaster took place on the first floor of the mall and destroyed properties worth billions of naira. Before fire fighters arrived the scene, some rescuers in the area succeeded in quenching the inferno, The Nation reports.
Two security men at the building who spoke to newsmen on condition of anonymity revealed that the explosion happened about 3:30pm.
Confirming the incident, the police spokesman in the state, Nnamdi Omoni, said that the injured persons were receiving treatment at the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital (RSUTH).
Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that the governor of Rivers state, Nyesom Wike, had been warned against rubbishing the image and efforts of the Department of Security Service (DSS) to score cheap political points over the state's gubernatorial election.
The National Democratic Front in its warning alleged that the governor had developed the habit of trying to compromise security agencies ahead of the Rivers State governorship election collation.
